The Primary Music School in Trebinje was established in 1954 and was allocated temporary accommodation in the building of the former “Gajret”. The School had two rooms, attended by 50 students, which were enrolled in three Departments including piano, violin and violoncello. In 1956 the School was awarded other premises located in the Old town in “Mejtef”, consisting on three rooms with a surface area of 130 m2. In 1957 the Wind Instrument Department was created for flute, clarinet and trumpet players. Later, in 1963 a Chamber Ensemble was also established under the auspices of the Music school. The Accordion Department was opened during the School year 1966/67, which is still active. In 1968 the School temporarily moved to the canteen of “Hidrogradnja”, a prefabricated building intended for different purposes and short usage (200 m2 which is below minimum standards in Music schools). Thirty-nine years have elapsed since this third, “TEMPORARY” transfer, which we we were using untill 2007. In 2007/2008 school year we moved in new premises located within the building complex of former military barracks “Luka Vukalovic”, in building No. 0-21, with a surface area of 570 m2, which includes a part of the ground and first floor. In uor new permises we finaly have completed conditions for opening High Music Scholl in Trebinje. |
